Happy September! And welcome to the best time of year, especially for those of us who write the dark and macabre. Up here in good ol' Northern B.C. the leaves are already yellowing. Two weeks from now it'll be gorgeous fall colours everywhere, and the best fishing of the year will be underway right up until Halloween (if you can bear the cold). But that's not why I'm sending out this update (but, please, go fishing, enjoy the great outdoors).
Today is a #bookbirthday for #ThatWitchWhispers - a new witch-themed anthology from Victoria, B.C.'s very own #BlackCatBooks. The anthology features 13 authors from British Columbia, all with original stories on the theme of witches and set right here in beautiful B.C.
I just received my #author copy yesterday and have already jumped in. I can tell you there's some great stuff in here.
Now the plug: my story, The Lighthouse Keeper, is in the book. It's not my usual foray into horror, but more a dark fairy tale about two boys who wash ashore on a barren island with only a lighthouse and its strange, overbearing keeper. Think of it as an ode to Hansel and Gretel, 'cause, well, that's what I was thinking when I wrote it.
A special thanks goes to publisher Shanon Sinn, and editors Zoe McKenna and Joshua Gillingham for tracking me down and inviting me to be a part of this anthology. Anyone who knows me knows I love to write dark stuff set in B.C. It was a perfect fit.
Most importantly, here's where you can go buy it (ebook and paperback available): That Witch Whispers (Black Cat Anthology Series) eBook : McKenna, Zoe, Gillingham, Joshua: Amazon.ca: Kindle Store (yes, you should just buy it).
Also, check out Black Cat Books, a relatively new publisher here in B.C. Great to see them on the scene in Western Canada: Black Cat Books.
Enjoy the rest of the long weekend!
